General Information for Applicants


Boston J.U.M.P., Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “JUMP”) Scholarship, is an endowment fund which provides students who are pursuing higher education (i.e. college, university, or technical institute) from an accredited school with financial assistance.  Recipients of the scholarship will receive (U.S.) Five Hundred Dollars towards the purchase of books and/or computer.




To be eligible for the scholarship offered by JUMP, a student must be accepted into an accredited school.  The student must demonstrate a willingness to provide voluntary services to a charitable organization (60 community service hours).


Applicants must satisfy the following requirements:


  • Be of Caribbean descent.

  • Be a legal resident of the USA.

  • Reside in the Greater Boston area of Massachusetts.

  • Have a Minimum of 2.7 GPA.

  • Provide two references (one preferably from a teacher or school counsellor).

  • Provide an acceptance/award letter from an accredited school.




Applicants are determined based on the following criteria:


  • Academic achievement (grades, awards, etc.)

  • Personal essay

  • Teachers/advisors recommendations

  • Recipient must have a financial need


If two or more favourable applicants are considered to be equal, the student will be chosen based on their essay. Scholarships are not recurring.




All Essays must be typed and no less than 250 words. Choose a personal essay topic below and state title on the cover page (include name, school, and date):


  • From a financial standpoint, what impact would this scholarship have on your education?

  • Describe how you have demonstrated leadership ability in your school, work, or community.

  • Pick an experience from your own life and explain how it has influenced your development.




Each applicant is required to submit a completed application. Scholarship forms will be available from [04/25/2015] and are available on the JUMP website,


Supporting documents to be submitted with the application form:


  • High School transcript.

  • Two references (one preferably from a teacher or school counsellor).

  • An acceptance/award letter from an accredited school.

  • Personal essay.
